
Description: From
either parking area, begin this level, paved, out-and-back trail above
the shores of Hartwell Lake. From the dam, you can see the boats and
activity on the lake and the quiet expanse of the tree-lined gorge
below. Benches and a shelter are located at the Overlook Area parking.
Insect repellant is
recommended in warm weather. Pets are permitted on a leash. No
restrooms are available.
Length: 0.6 mile.
Fees: No fee.
Directions: From
Anderson, drive west on US 29. Just past the Singing Pines Recreation
Area, turn right at the Overlook Area sign. From the parking lot, walk
back up the entrance drive, and turn right onto the trail. For a
shorter hike to the dam, drive past the Overlook Area, and turn right
at the next parking area. (You will need to ascend steep steps to
access the trail from this area.)
Hours: Dawn to 10 p.m.
Camping: No camping.
