Description:
From the back of the Visitor Center, begin this short, level, asphalt and dirt, loop trail through the historic Cowpens battlefield. Interpretive signs along the trail explain the important events of January 17, 1781 when American forces defeated British troops. As you walk through quiet woodlands and past open fields, watch for raccoons, squirrels, snakes, turkeys, and a variety of other wildlife. You can extend your walk on marked spur trails, or along the dirt road that connects to the paved park road. The park road also includes interpretive signs to guide visitors on a "driving tour" of the historic site.

Restrooms are available at the Visitor Center where you can learn more about the battlefield’s history from exhibits and audio-visual presentations. Remember to wear insect repellent in warm weather. Bikes and horses are prohibited on the interpretive trail. Pets are permitted on leashes.
