Description: This easy, 1.5 mile walking trail begins in the rear of the Visitor's Center and you can turn left or right. If you turn to the left, you will walk along a boardwalk and past a pond before reaching the Red Wolf Viewing Area, where you can view and learn about the endangered Red Wolf. If you turn to the right, you will pass the viewing center hosted by the South Carolina Center for Birds of Prey where you will see eagles, hawks, and osprey. If you continue, you will circle a pond where you may see the alligators that inhabit the pond. The Center provides exhibits about the ecosystems of the Francis Marion National Forest and Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge.

Dogs are not allowed on the trails to either the Red Wolf Viewing Area or the Birds of Prey Viewing Area.

Length: 1.5 mile out and back trail.

Fees: There is no entrance fee. Please contact the Center to find out about fees that may be associated with special interpretive programs.

Directions: From Charleston, drive northeast on US 17 for approximately 18 miles and the Sewee Visitor Center is on the right (east).

Hours: Tuesday through Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Camping: Primitive campsites are available year-round at both Elmwood Recreation Area and Honey Hill Recreation Area (843) 887-3257 for free. Full service facilities can be found at Buck Hall Recreation Area (843) 887-3257 for $15.00 per unit.
