Rail Trail
Heritage
(Greenwood, SC)
Trail Map

Description:
You can almost imagine a freight train rumbling along this mostly level,
2.5-mile paved rail trail through Greenwood. Although this is a city
trail, parts of it seem quite rural. Begin at the Palmetto Bank parking
lot and you will pass back yards, aged structures, and kudzu draped pine
and hardwood trees as you journey into an isolated area of swamps and
pastureland, intermingled with the back doors of local industries. Along
the way there are several benches, which offer respite for weary
walkers. The trail ends on the south side of Greenwood, and you must
return the way you came. This trail is wheelchair accessible and pets
and bikes are permitted, but motorized vehicles are not. As you walk or
ride, watch for dogs and other animals that may cross the trail. Water
and facilities are not available along the trail, so plan ahead.
