Summary:
In 1995, the Anne Springs Close Greenway, a 2,100 acre nature preserve in Fort Mill, South Carolina, was dedicated to the public to serve as a natural buffer from urban development and a place for countless activities – from hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding, to picnics, kayaking and more.
The Anne Springs Close Greenway operates a trail system that is close to 40 miles and growing. Trail maps are posted at all major entrances to the Greenway and use different colors to indicate different trail systems: yellow is used for hiking trails; purple is used for horseback riding and hiking; red is used for mountain biking and hiking. Trail markers are placed every quarter mile throughout the trail system and provide points of reference located on the trail map. Mountain bike trails make for an easy hike or for bikers a technically challenging single track with multiple climbs/descents and creek crossings. Trails feature scenic views of Steele Creek, two tunnels and varying types of Piedmont vegetation including a pine stand and mixed hardwoods.
Hiking and biking are free to members, non-members pay a daily usage fee of $5 payable at each entrance kiosk. To join the Greenway and avoid daily fees, please visit ASCGreenway.org/Join.
