Summary:
This 1.5 mile paved multi-use trail is located in Cherry Park which is Rock Hill’s premier softball/baseball facility that also includes a large playground, picnic shelters, restrooms and other park amenities. Cherry Park can be enjoyed year-round and provides athletic programs for both youth and adults. This park trail is near Hargett Park, and connects to a bike route that takes riders through the Winthrop Lake area and to Glencairn Garden via quiet neighborhood streets.
From either parking area, begin this paved, rolling, walking-biking fitness loop that winds amid tall pine trees on the lower level and snakes along a hardwood ridge above the sprawling park. You may see squirrels, snakes and a variety of birds and other wildlife.
Watch for signs that direct bicyclists and pedestrians to separate sections on upper sections of the trail. Bikes and pets are not permitted on the sections that loop through the picnic area and playground. Instead, bikes must follow the park drive between the picnic area and the park entrance.
Cherry Park's trail is handicap accessible. Restrooms are located near the picnic area. Insect repellent is recommended in warm weather. Pets are permitted on a 3-foot leash and must be “curbed” off the trail. Skateboards and rollerblades are not permitted on any city trail.
Hours: Dawn until 11 p.m. (during daylight savings time) or until 9 p.m. (during standard time)
Directions:In Rock Hill, from Exit 82 B on I-77: Drive 2 miles southwest on Cherry Road (SC 21 Business). Turn left into the park entrance, bear left, and turn right into the parking area.
