Summary:
Daufuskie Islanders worked for years to create Frances Jones Community Park, which features the Daufuskie Island Trail, a restroom facility and pavilion. The park is a place for locals and visitors alike to recreate while enjoying the splendor and natural beauty of Daufuskie Island.
Frances Jones Community Park features the Daufuskie Island Trail — the looped seashell path winds through the shaded park and passes a picnic shelter — offering an excellent place to stop for lunch and a leisurely stroll. The park offers ADA compliant parking, as well as ADA compliant restrooms that were clearly constructed with care by local craftsman, Chuck Hunter.
The development of the Frances Jones Communitiy Park on Daufuskie Island was made possible by grants from the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism, through a Recreational Trails Program grant, and Beaufort County — with special support from the Daufuskie Island Council and the Community Preservation Zoning Association. Work will continue on the park and future phases are expected to include playground equipment, historical signage, and a ballpark.
Hours: Dawn to dusk
Directions:Frances Jones Community Park is located at Frances Jones Blvd on Daufuskie Island.
