Summary:
Duck Pond actually consists of two ponds, both connected to the main lake and accessible by a single, narrow opening. Abundant cypress, varied vegetation and protection from main-lake wind and boat waves combine to provide outstanding spawning habitat for largemouth bass in the Duck Pond.
Starting from Fred L. Day Landing you will go south and follow the shoreline of Lake Moultrie for about a mile to the entrance of Duck Pond. Connected to Duck Pond is a smaller pond more like a cypress swamp and home for an abundance of birds, especially wading birds. Alligators may also be seen throughout this area.
Camping: About midway between the landing and Duck Pond is a clearing where you can stop for lunch or primitive camping.
