Summary:
The Town of Fairfax offers the community, as well as visitors, a lovely park with a gazebo, tennis courts and a walking path. The Fairfax Garden Club contributes flowers to the park.
Fairfax began as a very small community with two names. Its post office was called "Sanders", and the train stop was called "Campbell Station." This was before 1880, and at least six families lived there. Two of the families had the last name of Sanders - which was probably the reason for calling the post office by that name. The community was fortunate to have a railroad and continued to grow around its depot. Located in the middle of the town is a nice park with flowers, a gazebo, tennis courts, as well as a paved walking path.
Hours: Dawn to dusk
Directions:The park is located at the 7th Street and Sumter Avenue intersection next to the railroad tracks.
