Firebreak is a moderately strenuous multi-use loop trail, which is used by hikers, runners and mountain bike enthusiasts.
Harbison State Forest offers a number of interconnected hiking and biking trails. Firebreak is a moderately strenuous multi-use loop trail, which is used by hikers, runners, and mountain bikers. Beginning at the far end of Parking Area 1, you will pass through a forest of mixed pine and hardwood for about a mile, where the trail turns east, broadens, and then descends to cross the gravel access road. After a steep ascent and descent the trail becomes fairly level. Watch for wildlife, including white-tailed deer, and a variety of birds, lizards, and snakes.
You can extend your ride or hike by taking the Connector Trail to the Stewardship Trail, or by turning onto the Midlands Mountain Multiple-Use Trail or Lost Creek. Water and restrooms are available at the gazebo area and the Environmental Education Center. Pets are permitted on leashes.
Fees: Check the following website for fee information.
