A mainly surfaced 0.7 mile trail circles the large ball field complex, but if you walk the perimeter of the park you will come to a dirt and grass loop that circles a pond and passes wetland woods.
Starting from the main parking area, you walk several loops, either around the ball fields, the pond, or around the Leatherman Center. Look for a surprising variety of birds, as well as snakes, turtles, and other wildlife.
Insect repellant is recommended in warm weather.
Hours: April - September: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily / October - March: 9 a.m. to dark daily.
Directions:In Florence: Drive south on US 52/301. Turn left on Pamplico Highway (SC 51). Turn left on Freedom Boulevard. Turn left at the Freedom Florence Recreational Complex entrance and drive to the parking area north of the large ball field complex.
