Summary:
This Walt Schrader nature trail circles a pond and winds through diverse wetland and prairie habitats in Historic Brattonsville.
Begin this short, mostly-level, yellow-blazed, loop trail by following the dirt path from the picnic area to the trail kiosk. You will circle a quiet, natural area and pond where you can rest at the picnic shelter as you watch for a variety of birds, snakes, deer, rabbits, turkeys, turtles, and other wildlife. You can vary your trek by following any of a number of interconnecting trails.
Walt Schrader (1913-2005), the trail network’s namesake, was a committed conservationist, advocate in world-wide environmental affairs, and a champion of access to recreational lands. Dedicated in 2000, the Walt Schrader Trails are a lasting tribute to this keen outdoorsman and the natural beauty he loved to explore.
Restrooms are available at the Visitors Center. Allow time to complete your hike before closing hours. Insect repellent is recommended in warm weather. Pets and smoking are prohibited, as well as bicycle use and horseback riding on this trail.
Hours: Monday through Saturday - 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. / Sunday - 1 to 5 p.m.
Note: Guided site tours are offered Tuesday through Saturday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Just a short stroll around the pond but honestly, a very good one. You’ll thoroughly enjoy this little trail.
