Summary:
Paddle down the canal to the Combahee River on this trail. On the Beaufort side you will pass Parker’s Plantation (former home of W. Summerset Maugham).
From Line Canal Landing, put-in on the early falling tide, which is 5-6 hours behind Charleston Harbor, and paddle down the canal to the Combahee River. On the Beaufort side you will pass Parker’s Plantation (former home of W. Summerset Maugham). You may also see a variety of birds and animals along the banks of the river. This trip is approximately 5-6 hours by kayak and 8 hours by an experienced canoer and not recommended for beginners.
Insect repellent is recommended during warm months.

Mile 0 - Line Canal Landing - From Yemassee, drive east on US Highway 17A/21 for 6.5 miles and turn right onto Colleton County S-15-66. The landing is approximately 5.5 miles at the bridge.
Mile 8 - Steel Bridge Landing - From Yemassee, drive east on River Road (Beaufort County S-7-33) to US Highway 17. Turn left onto US Highway 17 and drive 1.5 miles to the bridge.
