Summary:
This self-guided trail details the Battle of Rivers Bridge by way of interpretive panels along the trail. Ranger-guided tours of one of the most well-preserved Civil War sites in South Carolina, which includes still-intact earthen fortifications, are also given throughout the year.
This interpretive trail begins at the gate and loops around the remains of battleground breastworks. You will walk though an area where in 1865 outmanned Southern troops forces held the army of General Sherman for two days. Rivers Bridge is the only State historic Civil War site listed in the National Register of Historic Sites.
Hours: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Directions:From Bamberg: Drive southeast on US 301. Drive 15 miles and turn left onto Bamberg County S-5-31. The park entrance is 6.5 miles on the right. From the park entrance drive 1.0 mile on Bamberg County Road S58 and turn right to the parking area.
