We hiked here in early June. Nice semi-paved trail. Lots of native trees and plants. Heard quite a few different birds. Heard and saw a yellow-billed cuckoo. Saw an Eastern Fence Lizard. Nice benches periodically. A few deer/horse flies buzzed us but none bit.

Hiked here this morning and went the whole way. This trail is now 1.5 miles - lasso shape. Goes down to a creek with lots of blooming mountain laurel. Nice spring warblers.

Trail is definitely family friendly on the gravel paved part. The rest of it seemed barely traveled in some parts. Trail gets very narrow, steep, and over grown in some parts. Kids definitely need to have good footing. The loop occurs when you get to the non gravel part at the electric wires. We went to our left because we saw the orange trail marker. Not sure we will do with the kids any time soon since loop seems rarely traveled. High risk of snakes saw small water mocassin snake near creek
