Summary:
A short distance along the Rose Hill Plantation Nature loop, you can turn right onto a spur trail where you can descend a steep slope through sheltered, lowland grass to the Tyger River.
The Nature Trail starts at the kiosk by the picnic shelter. Forking off from the Nature Trail is the River Trail running through the Sumter National Forest to the Tyger River and back.
Watch for birds, snakes and other wildlife. Insect repellent is recommended in warm weather. Pets are allowed on leashes. Restrooms are located in the log cabin.
Hours: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Directions:From Whitmire: Drive north on US 176. Just past the intersection where SC 72/121 split off, turn left onto Old Buncombe Road (Union County Road S-4418). Drive approximately 4.5 miles and turn right onto Sardis Road (S-4416). Drive to the stop sign and turn right. Rose Hill Plantation is .3 mile on the right. Enter the gate, turn right at the top of the hill, then left after the maintenance shed, and continue to the parking area for the picnic shelter.
