Summary:
This is a short trail located near Clemson University and takes your through the forest to view the Treaty Oak Monument. The path also offers scenic views of Lake Hartwell.
The first treaty between the United States and the Cherokee Indian Nation, on Nov. 28, 1785, took place at this historic site. The site is placed near the bridge crossing Lake Hartwell, and Clemson Experimental Forest provides a trail through the forest that allows access to the monument. Unfortunately, the actual Treaty Oak is no longer alive.
