Twelve Mile Creek Trail at Walnut Creek Park stretches along Twelve Mile Creek for nearly 3.5 miles from Walnut Creek Park through Walnut Creek neighborhood to the North Carolina state line where there is an incredible 180-foot-long suspension bridge. This natural surface trail also hosts a number of additional boardwalks and bridges.
Lancaster County Parks and Recreation is proud to offer the Twelve Mile Creek Trail at Walnut Creek Park to trail enthusiasts. This trail is part of the Carolina Thread Trail System and built with grant and county matching funds.
The trail length is approximately 3.48 miles of sustainable natural surface adjacent to Twelve Mile Creek in the Walnut Creek planned development district. The trail is approximately three to four feet wide with a two foot cleared shoulder on each side. The main access for the trail is at Walnut Creek Park.
Walnut Creek Park serves as the trail head entrance. There is additional access at the bridge on Carrington Drive in the Walnut Creek community. The trail ends at the North Carolina State Line where a 180-foot-long swinging suspension bridge connects the trail to the Twelve Mile Creek Greenway.
