Summary:
This short nature trail takes to you to the lakeside and back. Lake Warren State Park is a premier fishing venue for largemouth bass, bluegill bream, redbreast, crappie and catfish.
Enjoy the beauty of Lake George Warren as you relax on a bench midway along this level .3-mile loop. From the trailhead at the playground, you will walk beneath Spanish moss that hangs from oak trees in the mixed woods. You will follow a short boardwalk over a boggy area lined with rhododendron. You will see a variety of birds and wildlife, plus a possible snake or alligator. If you'd wish to extend your hike, the Intepretive / Nature and Fit Trails are located across State Park Drive.
In warmer months—remember to wear insect repellent. Restrooms are located next to the parking area. Pets are allowed on leashes.
Directions:From Highway 278 in Hampton: Drive west on SC 363 for approximately 3.2 miles and turn left onto Hampton County S-25-510. Drive approximately 1.3 miles and turn right at the entrance to Lake Warren State Park. The trailhead is at the playground on the right.
