Travelers along Oconee County’s US 76 would never know that just a short walk from the two-lane roadway is a beautiful 30-foot waterfall tucked among the towering trees of Sumter National Forest.

Most of the two-mile hike ambles along a pleasant trail shaded by an assortment of hardwoods and bordered at times by small partridgeberry wildflowers. But when you reach the Chattooga River, you will turn left onto a heavily vegetated path and scramble around rocks and trees for the last half-mile hike to the base of the waterfall.

The path to Long Creek Falls is not an official forest service trail so there may not be permanent markings. Long Creek Falls is a 25-foot waterfall on its namesake creek in Oconee County, just before the creek flows into the mighty Chattooga River.

Fall Creek Falls consists of three waterfalls, each roughly 30 to 40 feet high, in a two mile-long stretch.

This is a .4-mile, peaceful and remote gravel trail to scnic flat shoals on the Chattooga River where you can launch your canoe or kayak.

Follow this moderately steep, .2-mile trail down a rocky slope through lush green forest intermingled with rhododendron. You will descend steep steps to the river’s edge where rushing water fills a cool mountain pool.

Bull Sluice is a Class Five rapid on the Chattooga River. From the center's parking lot, follow the trail down the hill to where it forks (remember you got to walk that hill coming back).  Take the right fork through the woods to the river below (the left fork take you to a beach area downstream of the rapids). 

This hidden treasure rushes 75 feet down a narrow gap and into a beautiful blue pool that gives the area its name.

Brasstown Falls in Oconee County is a great waterfall on Brasstown Creek. The hike to falls is an moderately difficult, but short, less than a mile.

This is one of those trails where the moderate 45-minute hike along a recently constructed trail is alone worth your hiking time.
