Summary:
Eagle Trail is a short hiking trail, located within Harbison State Forest, that features trees labeled with their common and scientific names.
Harbison State Forest offers a number of interconnecting multi-use trails. The Eagle Trail is a hiking only, .4 to .8-mile double-loop trail that ascends and descends through a picturesque wooded ravine. An interpretive guide, available at the trailhead, corresponds to numbers along the trail to help you identify the tree species. You will pass through an open grassy area, and alongside a field of specially planted trees. Watch for a variety of birds and other wildlife, including white-tailed deer, lizards, and snakes. Before you return to the parking area, you can walk on a .2-mile spur and relax in the gazebo.
Firebreak and the multi-use, Midlands Mountain Trail, intercross the Eagle Trail, should you wish to extend your hike. Water and restrooms are available at the gazebo area and the Environmental Education Center. Pets are permitted on leashes.
Fees: Check the following website for fee information.
