The South Carolina Park Service manages a piece of land off of highway 11 between Caesar’s Head and Jones Gap state parks called Wildcat Wayside. The short trail begins with a steep set of stairs climbing right beside a small, but beautiful, waterfall.

Slickum Falls are located in the Eva Russell Chandler Heritage Preserve, managed by the S.C. Department of Natural Resources, in the Mountain Bridge Wilderness area between Ceasars Head and Jones Gap.

The Dismal Trail gets its name from a dense mature hardwood forest called the Dismal. From the Raven Cliff Falls Trail, the Dismal descends most of its distance and some the descents are steep.

The trail is well labeled (pink blaze), and follows a narrow foot path along the base of the rock face, El Lieutenant. Most consider the Coldspring Branch/Bill Kimball Trail to El Lieutenant—to be one of the most difficult hikes around.

Jones Gap Falls is a pretty waterfall on a tributary to Middle Saluda River in Greenville County. The waterfall is located in Jones Gap State Park, part of the Middle Bridge Wilderness area.

One of the area’s most diverse hikes, this trail includes a log crossing of Matthews Creek, a spectacular view of Raven Cliff Falls from a swinging bridge, and a rock face called The Cathedral.

There are several huge rock formations, the most famous being Weight Watchers rock, a formation with an opening you can walk through if you are thin enough. Also, users will be treated to some striking views of Cleveland Cliff and Rainbow Falls.
